PROMONTORY UNVEILS SPECTACULAR PETE DYE CANYON GOLF CLUBHOUSE IN PARK CITY

Park City, Utah (February 26, 2007) – Promontory, Park City, Utah’s luxury, mountain-recreational second-home community, has announced the opening of its highly-anticipated Pete Dye Canyon Golf Clubhouse.

The stunning 27,000-square foot Pete Dye Canyon Golf Clubhouse is Promontory’s latest first-class amenity and part of Promontory’s remarkable 100,000 combined total square footage of luxurious member facilities. It boasts one of the area’s top dining retreats, member social lounges, and spacious and well-appointed men’s and women’s club lounges among its many outstanding features, along with an architectural style that makes it stand out as something far beyond an ordinary golf clubhouse.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer our members a unique architectural achievement as their state-of-the-art golf and dining clubhouse,” said Rich Sonntag, Promontory’s Managing Director. “The building, designed by Promontory’s own design architect, Dale Ayers, is truly dramatic and takes full advantage of its location. I predict the Dye Clubhouse will quickly become a central meeting place where our members will come together to golf, dine and socialize.”

The Dye Clubhouse overlooks the 10th and 18th fairways of the 7,700-yard Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course, offering stunning views of the Wasatch Mountains. It includes its signature restaurant, Hearth, inspired by the massive two-sided fireplace that graces the dining and guest reception areas and headed by Promontory’s renowned executive chef, Perry Hendrix.

The building was designed by Ayers, who sought to design a structure that would welcome members with a comfortable setting while also setting it apart as a unique structure that could serve as a centerpiece for the Promontory property.

“The Dye Clubhouse leans toward the modern style but is still in the mountain-ranch vernacular,” said Ayers, who has more than 30 years’ experience in architecture and has helped design and create some of the most successful high-end real estate developments in the country. “It has to respond to the other buildings surrounding it.

“We wanted to create a clean look while maintaining that warmth. It’s more a transitional building than a modern building.”
Prior to joining Promontory, Ayers was a major contributor to the architecture and design schemes at Sailfish Point in Stuart, Fla. and the award-winning Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia. On the Dye Clubhouse project, Ayers achieved a modern look by using copper for the roof and plenty of glass, including glass railings to keep from impeding views from the main dining room. The warm, free-flowing mountain-ranch feel was achieved via a skillful blend of functional and artistic planning that incorporates carefully selected rock, wood beams and indirect lighting accents.

The upscale feel of the inside of the building is largely due to the work of interior designer Darrell Schmidt, who in his 30-year career has worked on projects ranging from private residences to many Four Seasons resorts and some of the world’s other exclusive hotels.

The Pete Dye Clubhouse features:

  • 27,000 square feet over two floors
  • Innovative architecture, featuring an exterior with a post-modern ski lodge look and an interior with a modern, yet casual and comfortable Western feel, complete with soaring vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams and stunning rock accents
  • Member social lounge surrounding a massive double-sided fireplace
  • Upscale casual dining with interior seating for 60 featuring a bar, banquet seating, harvest table and a display kitchen.
  • Hearth offers members distinctive cuisine in a contemporary mountain setting – members may enjoy casual fare at the bar near the inviting wood-fired ovens or select from more private tables overlooking breathtaking vistas
  • Outdoor terrace on multiple levels, with seating for 30 with outdoor grille and fireplace seating
  • Men’s lounge with fireplace, bar, card tables, media seating area, internet access, handicap station, 252 shoe lockers, 128 lockers, showers, attendant station and outdoor patio
  • Women’s lounge club with fireplace lounge, juice bar, card tables, media seating area, internet access, handicap station, 252 shoe lockers, 128 lockers, showers, attendant station and outdoor patio
  • Golf pro shop and pro office with storage
  • Golf cart storage for 65 carts
  • Golf bag storage for 400 bags

“This is truly a landmark facility for us,” Michael Marion, Promontory’s director of golf, said of the Dye Clubhouse. “With over 700 lot sales and members from all 50 states, the Pete Dye Clubhouse offers an inviting setting to enhance our sense of community. Integrating golf and social aspects is core to all of our golf activities.”
Spectacular golf is a focal point among Promontory’s many recreational offerings, as evidenced by Promontory’s No. 6 ranking in Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine’s 2007 list of Top 100 Golf Communities.

The Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course opened in 2002 and tests golfers with a layout that is as challenging as the views are breathtaking. A second course, The Painted Valley Course – a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, is scheduled to open this summer. A ‘family friendly’ par-60 short course designed by Forrest Richardson and a course designed by Tom Weiskopf are in the planning or development phases.

The opening of the Pete Dye Canyon Golf Clubhouse adds yet another attractive amenity to the long list already offered at Promontory. The 7,000+-acre private second-home community in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in the picturesque Park City area offers luxury homesites and an extensive list of amenities that cater to golfers, skiers, equestrians, hikers, mountain bikers and other lovers of the outdoors.
